If I don’t have chocolate protein powder could I sub cocao powder? If so, how much?
Cristina says
No, the protein powder is also what sweetens the smoothie, just cacao will make it too bitter. But you could do 1 tsp cacao powder with 1 tsp sweetener of choice. I do however recommend you add a protein source like collagen.
Shaian says
Thanks so much! I used 1 tsp cocao powder, 1 tsp maca powder and 1 tsp of collagen that equalled a scoop. Then I added another scoop of collagen. I also substituted the water for pineapple juice for that sweetness and it was amazing! Took me a while to play around with it but I liked this combination the best. Thank you!

Hello I am so happy I found your page. I have rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia. I heard of AIP but I found it very strict and since I have kids I find it exhausting trying to prep not to mention its pricey especially now. Neurostimulator implant surgery and pandemic has made me gain 20 pounds and I feel awful. I would like know if the protocol you follow also helped you lose weight and if so are you paleo, aip, keto or whole 30. I just don’t know where to start. Thank you
Cristina says
Hi Patricia, tough times all around. I’m sorry you’re in a rut. My blog has Paleo, Keto, Whole30 and AIP recipes because I’ve followed all of these protocols and often blend them together. I lost about 60lbs in my first 3 years eating AIP/Paleo and then a modified Paleo/Keto. I recommend starting with paleo or a Whole30 before you dive into AIP- while its very helpful it’s also very hard.
